Really just for flame sake, but, what gaming platform is the best?

My money is on Xbox 360, better online experience, better “waggle” controls (I.E: Kinect.) more home theater compatibility, more games, just… better.

    VITA! ‘Nuff said.

First off. The 360. Terrible way to go for the whole ‘better gaming’ experience friend… What do you have over the PLaystaion? Nothing. Alll you do is pay less for the console and then pay $60 a year to play online. And dont give me the whole spiel of oh i get a cheaper package with some sort of blahdy blah. I dont care. Because i can play online for FREE. Did you see that? FREEEEEEEEEE. The whole online community holds a higher standard than the 12 year old that got a 360 for his birthday and his parents pay for his xbox live and his games. The PS3′s entire online community is full of adults for adults and by adults. If you ever what to play a serious game and get whopped let me know. Ill own you with my superior controller any day.

  • Profile picture of ReverEND ReverEND said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

Sure, online for free, but who else is playing online?. 6 people maybe? lol.

Superior controller? come on. The tired PS design is uncomfortable, it’s sticks are too loose and now that the 360′s have a new D-pad design, the PS3′s directional pad is inferior as well. That was really the only reason I bought Street Fighter 4 on PS3, it had a good D-pad. But the new changeable cross on the 360 beats it.

The Blu-ray drive makes for slower loading unless you sit through a 30min install of 8gbs of the game, the fact it can’t even upscale to 1080 resolution most the time is a joke, especially for a console that was hailed as being able to easily do 1080 at 60fps. (which it can’t do in either case the majority of the time.)

  • Profile picture of Ryan Gough Ryan Gough said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

In short, because i have to go check on my dog and will add more later… The PS controller design hasnt changed because it never needed too. Whoppie, the thumbsticks are too loose. But the Xbobx’s design has me twitching out on the controller so much that i nearly broke half of the ones i’ve ever owned. And about the resolution? Well if the xbox had actually spent some time in putting some more high quality items in the system to begin with, the game company’s would probably have spent more on the look of the game because of the consoles superior power to actually obtain these resolutions. But like i said before. Microsoft keeps things on the cheap end because you end up paying way more for xbox live than you ever would a brand new console. No one has ever realized this yet.

Take the price of the PS3 when it first was announced. More than 700 dollars. The 360? About 300. Why? Because microsoft is weening you out by making you pay to play online. And it works. For almost everyone in the United States. I bet even you have spent more than $500 on the console and its live than i ever spent on my playstaion. And i even went to the extreme as to look up bigger hard drives to slap in the SoB just so i didnt have to worry about space. STILL CHEAPER than buying a new hard drive for a 360, because you have to buy the specific one that microsoft makes so it would be compatible with the system. And the second to last recent update to their dashboard for the 360? LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE THE DASHBOARD FOR THE PS3! And the new one looks like the same thing just sideways and with boxes like the microsoft kin… I wonder why that is?

Sorry but you guys fail, FAIL!

Vita is the new contender here and it delivers so much crap that both consoles have, plus it does it well!

    1. You can Party chat with anyone on your group, in the middle of the game and want to stop playing and adding more friends? easy, just hit the home button and the Party page is already open, just add and talk.

    2. Xbox Live is much better? sure it is but the Vita’s Store is revised to make it look much sleeker and better.

    3. Online is crap on the PSN? pfft took me two seconds to connect to a Online race in Ridge Racer Vita and took off with no lag whatsoever, and it’s only launched in Japan so you can understand that a little lag is there. However! there was none when I did play on my awesome Wifi.

    4. Afraid of how to setup your Mic? pfft again (So much spitting my keyboard is already sticky, and no Bj it’s not my jizz), it already has an awesome mic and I tried it while chatting with my friend, was freaking cool.

    5. PSVita can’t handle tough graphics like the PS3/360? Watch this remote play link and you’ll see what the Vita can do.

    6. PSVita supports apps, that means in the future Xperia S games can be ported directly to the Vita and maybe, just maybe, they will let you add more apps by third parties developed games like Cut The Rope or Where’s My Water.
there now you can start telling me I’m wrong.

Alright, first of all, let me start off by saying that I completely respect everything that is current-gen, because seriously they are pretty remarkable machines considering what was first introduced as video games. Now onto the fun.

Let’s start with the 360. Where to even begin?? I bought a 120GB 360 elite as a Christmas present to myself a few years back. Over the course of the next four months, it literally broke on me FOUR TIMES!!! That’s once per month! I had issues ranging from some error code that came up when the system turned on, completely preventing me from playing ANYTHING, to the dvd drive going out on me, the same error code I had before, which is ridiculous lol, and finally the red ring of death. That’s not even mentioning the complete ridiculousness of NEEDING to pay just to play games online! How stupid is that? I hear people all the time say that the 360 touts a much better online experience, but I’ve played on both and believe me they are EXACTLY THE SAME. Both systems have the little kids that get on and do their thing. There isn’t a single difference from, say, Call of Duty World at War on the PS3 vs. the 360.

How about the actual hardware of the 360? SUCKS. Check out what is in it in comparison with the PS3. Seriously go Google it right now. I’ll wait. Surprised by what you found 360 fanboys???? Like Ryan said, Sony actually put quality parts in their system and are selling for a very decent price considering what is inside of it and NOT CHARGING FOR ONLINE. My 360 that I had, along with every other person that I’ve ever known to have one of these unfortunate money pits, was very loud. I mean seriously, the thing sounds like a jet engine!

Now the new Slim 360 seems to have gotten a little bit better, but if you do a very quick search on the problems people have had with that, you might be shocked. One person that I know was so excited to bring his brand new Slim 360 home, opened it up, put in a game (I forget what game), and heard a weird grinding noise. He turned off the system, turned it back on, and ejected the game. Do you know what he found? The BRAND NEW SYSTEM had ENGRAVED a circle ring onto the game disc. Yeah, I think I want THAT to be happening to my games!

Of course if you couldn’t tell, I strongly believe the PS3 is the much more capable system here. And for good reason too. While it sucks that games are developed for the 360 and then made to work for PS3, I still would much rather have a better system. The games always look a little bit worse on PS3, but realistically that’s because of Microsoft. If it were the other way around and games were MADE FOR PS3 and then developed for 360, it would be so much clearer to a lot of people that the PS3 is the superior console. Microsoft has the money and they know how to throw it around. I won’t go into detail of the systems components here, but here is a link for a very in depth look at the two systems and how they stack up against each other in a series of 12 videos on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fARdxkovMhQ Some of the videos are purely opinionated, like which controller is best, but when it comes to the hardware section, that is straight facts.

Overall, yes the PS3 is the clear cut winner of the console war in my opinion, but, and this may shock those of you who continued to read this far lol, the PC is by far the ultimate way to game. I built a gaming rig (my first ever) last March, and the frame rates of the games, mixed with the complete customization of the graphics levels, incredible attention to detail, and just overall smoothness of the games, really makes me want to give up console gaming forever. If you want a serious gaming experience that doesn’t involve tons of little kids, this is the way to go. This is the REAL adults gaming choice. And don’t be put off by thinking “oh pc gaming…yay…I have to play with a keyboard and mouse” because that’s not true at all. Yes some games it is required like Starcraft or something like that, but just about EVERY SINGLE GAME that I own right now, I can use a controller.

So, to wrap it all up, here is the hierarchy of gaming:
PC (ultimate) > PS3 (pretty damn decent) > 360 (WHY WASTE YOUR MONEY???)

Let’s start with the numbers. X360 has sold over 63Million consoles compared to the PS3′s sales of 61Million. Fact number 1. 360 sells better, according to VGChartz as of 2011.
    [SOURCE: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40930/Global/ ]

as of 2010, those numbers were Xbox 360 – 40.3 Million Units. PlayStation 3 – 35.95 Million Units
    Again, 360 won.

    [SOURCE: http://www.shacknews.com/article/63785/worldwide-console-sales-numbers-revealed ]

“it’s not always about the hardware it’s about the games… blah blah blah” got you covered.
xbox 360 has sold over 603million titles. PS3 only 511million. again, 360 wins according to VGchartz.

you guys even said it yourself “it sucks they port from the 360.” Why do you think that is? because it’s user base is larger and it’s much easier to program for.
    [SOURCE:http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40930/Global/ ]

Sony had a great console in the PS3 and continually stripped it of it’s selling points. I’m surprised they kept the BD drive to be honest. Backwards compatibility? not anymore. multiple USB ports? gone, Alternative OS? bye bye. It was a great Media center device, but with the weekly updates, that has been anemiated into a worthless feature for most. I mean, you know it’s a bad sign for your system when a store is giving refunds for the companies back peddling on the things the console can do.
    [SOURCE: http://www.psuni.com/ps3-owner-refunded-without-return-for-missing-other-os-3555/ ]

How about flexibility? Sure, you can buy a cheap, generic Laptop HDD and upgrade the drive. thats great. I do hate MS and there propietary “everything”. But it’s still more flexible then a PS3. the PS3 can not upscale video what so ever. So everyone with a nice 1080P TV, most the time, is only getting 720p. look on the back of most PS3 titles. if it says 720p, thats all you’re getting. This creates a HUGE problem for people who have older model HDTV’s. if you have a TV that only supports 1080i and NOT 720p. Guess what resolution you HAVE to play in. 480p. the PS3 will not do 1080i if the game says 720p. it will revert to the lowest possible resolution. 360 will upscale all games.

I want to throw in a quote from Ken Kutaragi, ex President of Sony Entertainment. when asked if the PS3 was too expensive he said, verbatim. “It’s probably too cheap… If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem.” That was when the PS3 was 700 dollars.

Yes the 360 sold more units, and thats because it is cheaper than the PS3. Honestly that’s it. Uninformed people get the 360 because their cheap friends bought the cheap system. Yeah the 360 is easier to develop for, but why should PS3 owners suffer just because of that? The PS3 is by far the better system. How many PS3 games have more than one disc? NONE. I’ve owned 360 games that had FOUR DISCS. That is completely retarded. And as for the whole resolution matter, from day one the PS3 was doing HDMI. The 360 didn’t even get this feature until the elite. And if you look on the back of the game case of the same game that’s on both systems, it will say the same resolution. I was just recently arguing with a guy in Gamestop about this and he was like alright I’ll show you. He goes and picks up Modern Warfare 2 off the shelf for 360 and says alright take a look. I did, and it said 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. We then went to the PS3 and got the same game case. He was like look here! And I did. Guess what it said? THE SAME DAMN THING! We went on like this for several different games, all with the same exact results. From out of the gate the PS3 has ALWAYS been able to do full 1080p, whereas 360 has needed to play catch up. The PS3 absolutely can upscale video by the way. There are even settings right on the XMB that you can play around with in regards to upscaling the quality of video. I am so glad that PS3 has kept the blu ray drive, because that makes this console not only great for gaming, but you can buy this and BAM you have a blu ray player in your home also! Never can the 360 be “the ultimate media center” because of the simple fact that it CANNOT support all media. As far as backwards compatibility, who cares???? I still have my ps2 and if I want to play ps2 games, I can. Multiple USB ports? Ok it went from four to two. Hmm…only two…I could swear that’s the SAME AMOUNT AS 360 (with the exception of the new slim). I don’t care about an alternative OS on my GAMING SYSTEM. Could you EVER put an alternative OS on the 360 without having to exploit a bug? NO. PS3 gave it’s users the option right in the menu.

Let’s talk about the interface of the two. The PS3 could not be any more straightforward than it is now. It is so incredibly easy to find anything you are looking for. The 360 has such a dumb confusing layout, and most of it relies on having that precious xbox live because half of the things you see are things they want you to download or whatever…when I am browing my systems options, I don’t want to be bothered by tons of advertising. The ONE AND ONLY THING that I believe the 360 has over the PS3 is the fact that you can play music from your system while playing games. That’s pretty cool.

  • Profile picture of ReverEND ReverEND said 3 months, 2 weeks ago:

you’re really misinformed, the PS3.. at a HARDWARE LEVEL can NOT upscale. if the game is programmed to upscale, then it can. The developer of the game has to include code to allow the game to upscale. Just because the guy didn’t know specific games doesn’t mean it’s not true. I linked a support forum of over 400 posts.. everyone pinpointing specific games that WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOVE 720P. I had to deal with this issue personally. So don’t tell me it could “from day one do 1080p” because you are absolutely wrong. That “upscale” setting is ONLY for DVD and PS1 (or PS2 if you have an older fat model) games. it does not, in any way, apply to PS3 titles.

There is a huge different in never offering features. and Advertising features only to take them away later. would you rather someone go “I can’t do that, sorry” or go “I can definitely do that!” only to have them, 3 months down the line go “No, I stopped, but you have to pay me the same price still.” I think that’s an easy answer.

if you really want to play the “had to catch up” game.. lets do that.

360 had in game chat first. PS3 had to add it much later.
360 had achievements first day. Ps3 added “trophies” way later.
360 had Netflix first. Ps3 had it later
360 had Hulu first. Ps3 later.
360 has FiOS TV intergation. PS3 does not.
    Crackle, ESPN, Last.fm.

360 had “rumble” first. PS3 had to add it later. (honestly, their excuse for leaving it out, although a silly feature anyways was more ridiculous then the feature itself. lol. ) [SOURCE: http://www.1up.com/news/sony-rumble-generation-feature ]

good man…just making sure you were a credible person to be talking to about this, which is why i said what i said about the upscaling. honestly, i cant even argue against any of what you said. and yeah the rumble is ridiculous lol i always play with it off anyway. when it comes down to it at the end of the day i have a ps3 because of the plain and simple fact that 1. ive only had 2 problems with ps3 systems over the 5 years now that i’ve owned them (first problem was my blu ray drive went out, then second issue was yellow light of death, both happening on my 40gb system. i’ve since then gotten a slim and had no problems at all), 2. i don’t have to pay to enjoy games with my friends that i’ve already paid for, and 3. the interface is just plain better. i guarantee if developers would get off their ass, or stop having microsoft shove money down their throats and in their pockets, and they actually developed everything for ps3 first, then ps3 would be hands down the best system out there. and when it comes to a GAMING device, all i care about is how the games run. i don’t care about hulu and netflix and blah blah blah. it’s a gaming machine. if you wanna watch hulu and netflix and stuff like that through a system hooked into your tv, get a computer and be done with it. and really, if all the games that were made on ps3 and 360 were also made for pc, like guitar hero and rock band and stuff like that, then i wouldnt even own a console at all. the exclusives for both systems arent really that good anyway….so theres really no argument in that case.

  • Profile picture of Ryan Gough Ryan Gough said 3 months, 2 weeks ago:

You know why the 360 had all of those things first? BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER AND MICROSOFT MADE THE MONEY TO INCORPORATE THESE THINGS INTO THE 360 IN THE FIRST PLACE.

  • Profile picture of Jayce Kibler Jayce Kibler said 3 months, 2 weeks ago:

yeah you said it. microsoft has a super cheap system. you cant deny that the ps3 has better hardware inside of it! its just a shame that its not gettin put to use. well it is but only in the ps3 exclusives like uncharted and god of war, and i believe it really shows.
