Eyes snap open, it’s 9am. I have 4hrs to get ready, leave the house, and get to my plane before it takes off without me. It’s hard getting up when you’ve only just gotten to sleep. I’m not a “YAY!, how exciting!” type of traveler. I’m a “OMG, I’ll forget this, I’ll lose that, I won’t make it to where I’m suppose to be!” type of, stressful and nervous traveler.
I won’t bore you with the flying bits as, there pretty unchanged. you board, you fly, you land, rinse, repeat… although, having to run from one terminal to a another (T1 to T3.) is a little tiresome. But, whatever has to be done. Arriving at my final destination brought something interesting.. finally. In the shuttle that I was occupying where a couple fellow E3 goers. One was in the shuttle before me, but wasn’t talking. The other came in after me, and I spotted him for an E3 goer quite easily. Once the first guy got wind that we where E3-er’s he felt comfortable enough and started talking with us. He apparently was asked to attend for an award winning Indie game he had made. (who’s name eludes me, I’ll ask him if I bump into him again.) He was from Australia and had been traveling a LOT to get here. The other fellow had travelled a great deal as well as he was from England, here to cover E3 goings on for a publication (I believe) that he worked for, he spoke frequently of the freebies that companies sent him to review.. That is the type of stuff I need to get this site into, free shit!. haha!
The England guy was heading to the same hotel as I was, when the name was mentioned.. a lady who was sitting behind us in the shuttle basically said, what many reviewers on Hotels.com have said.. “Don’t go out at night.” Wow, I feel great about my hotel choice!. As we are driving, we pass the LA Convention Center. Colorful, immersed in gigantic billboards and posters of the games that will be shown. Crysis 2 taking up the biggest lot, along side A sony billboard featuring Kevin (CEO of…whatever Sony can think of.) holding the new Sony “Move” other games with boards where Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Fallout Vegas, and …another war game.. wasn’t paying attention to that one..
We drive passed and turn a corner. As we come to a fork in the road, the lady behind us point to the right and says “If you go anywhere, it’s that direction” (the direction shows bustling streets and clean buildings with glass in the windows.) “Don’t go that way.” (This direction shows boarded up windows with graffiti and a sense of danger) It was straight out of a Daffy Duck cartoon, where one direction is bright and happy, while the other is full of blood thirsty wolves and creepy trees. I’m not even kidding about the descriptions.
The entrance to our Hotel was immaculate. Truly impressive. Marble floors, large glass doors, stained glass ceilings, large sculptures and ivory pillars. I thought it was the wrong place, and began to worry about the cost I was quoted. if it was the right price, where did they skimp to give me that price?!… Well.. the elevator was a great foreshadowing of what was to come. The ceiling of the Lift, in contrary to the lobby, was, what appeared to be, covering in duct tape… I’ll get a picture later, it was silver and looked either poorly painted on, or duct tape. As it stopped and the doors opened, I realized why the room was so cheap. the 12th floor is something out of Silent Hill. If the lighting was really poor, I would be afraid of being attacked by scary faceless nurses. It was confusing as hell figuring out where my room was, but…upon finding it..
It felt more like one of the dozens of swelling creaky rooms in the house from Fight Club. Opening the door released an interesting… almost menthol smell that I can’t really describe. It’s not a terrible smell…but, one that I wouldn’t want to be around forever. immediately to my left is a sink, I’ll get back to that thing. Right next to the sink is a tiny closet. I could fit some luggage in there, and that’s about it. The lobby may make the hotel look like it was built last year, but the rooms show, clearly, it was built in the 50’s or so. The carpet is lumpy, the base boards of a dinginess to them that shows it’s been around for decades.
…I am Jack’s broken sink. This is the sink in my room. I ran it for a little while, the handles attached to the wall..leak a little bit, so, I’m a little afraid to turn them all the way. As you can see, the spigot is just… sticking right out of the wall there. Whats weird is that, right here. next to the sink, my cell phone service drops to nothing. as soon as I walk away, I get full voice signal and full 4G. huh, must be all the lead in the paint. *shrug*. As you can see, things are Catawampus and off center. I figured, since I don’t have a bathroom… yeah, lol.
Yeah, I don’t have a bathroom. at the end of each hall is a bathroom and a shower room. the shower room is about 4×4x10. not a lot of washing room
But… I’m getting sleepy,.. it’s only 10, but, I need to wake up early and try to get to the Sony Press Conference. Here is a final picture.. to remind you what I’m going through. haha. Catch you all tomorrow.
Alright. A little update on what’s going to happen with the site while I’m at E3. What I’m going to try and attempt to do is live stream everything that is going on to the site with my 4G EVO. I’m going to do some testing before I leave to make sure it’s even a reasonable thing to attempt. If the tests go well, I’ll probably only be live streaming throughout the show. Each day noon til 5pm, So hope back a lot to see what I’m seeing. at the end of the day before the show closes for the night, I’ll post as many high quality pictures, actual words and such so you can read about my adventures and anything else I didn’t catch on video or live stream. I think each stream will be viewable in a single window, I’ll get back to that as I’m testing to see. at the end of the day, I’ll post all live streams separately as individual videos to watch anytime. I’m flying in Sunday, registering Monday, and the show starts Tuesday.. that is when most everything will be happening. But, I’m going to try and get some stuff on Monday if I can. Your guys support is gonna be important through this as I’m going it alone, so, post what you wanna see the next day and I’ll try and get what I can.

Ok.. this just seems a little far fetched.. but its still funny. According to This Link The surprise cancellation of Portal 2 is due to.. possible, as the consensus on the linked forums are concerned either Half Life 3, NOT Episode 3 but an actually Sequel. Or…. Duke Nukem Forever.
Funny right?
Yeah.. so far, not a lot of Credence behind it except the image manipulation. So.. we’ll see it fall flat.

So… An email was sent out to the media about Valves Portal 2 event at E3 and how they’ve canceled it… Sucks right?
Well.. Something fishy. Here is the email that was received by some E3 attendees.
“Dear Subject Name Here,
Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word “surprise”, of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.
If you’d like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve’s Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.
Thank you for [[RECORD SCRATCH!!!]]
PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise. “

Recently, I upgraded my computers video card from a GTX275 to dual 5870’s to, hopefully, increase the framerate and overall enjoyment of having 3 monitors.
Prior, I was using SoftTH for 3×1 gaming. While the software was extremely flexible and, personally, a more preferred method of Mult-monitor gaming as it allowed far more customization. The 5xxx cards are MADE for multi-monitor gaming thru Eyefinity. Sure, it sounds like just a gimmick, given that SoftTH proved just about anything could do it. But, the Radeon 5xxx line was designed with this in mind, with the ability to hook up 3 displays to one card, and a hefty amount of streaming units to help keep those higher resolutions running smooth. Going from SoftTH to the built in Eyefinity setup, I gained anywhere from 20fps to 50fps. Some of the negatives of Eyefinity are few, but substantial.
First, in order to use bezel compensation, the ability to “increase the screen size past the bezel around the viewing screen.” so you get a more seamless, window like view is only allowed when you have 3 of the same monitor. Second, all monitors must be pointing the same direction when using 3 in a portrait fashion. May not sound like a problem, but not all monitors are symmetrical. some have larger bezels at the bottom, or even curved, non-uniform bezel bottoms near the base, making it impossible to get a clean, gapless look between the monitors unless you swivel one of the end screens the opposite direction. but this isn’t something you can do with Eyefinity, you could with SoftTH.
And the single biggest issue I am having right now with Eyefinity actually has to do with Crossfiring 2 cards together. Not too long ago, Crossfire simply didn’t work at all with Eyefinity. When Eyefinity was enabled, Crossfire was ignored. Until the 5970 was released (2 5870’s on one board.) with that, ATI released the 9.12hotfix drivers that allowed for Crossfire+Eyefinity (Cross-finity) But this had issues, and to this day, it is still far from spectacular… lets face it, it’s just about useless.
